Combat training, activities of the Internal Troops, and changes to legislation.

Last week, the flight restriction zone for all types of civil aircraft (including UAVs) in the south of Belarus was extended. The ban was introduced on February 24, 2022, and has been extended several times.

It became known that units of the 1530th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces are located at Mazyr (Bokau) airfield. The regiment has been in Belarus since February 2022.

It was reported about the visit of Rosgvardiya’s representatives to Belarus. During the visit, the delegation visited training facilities of the Internal Troops and got acquainted with the activities of special purpose units.

As part of a training on guarding a military town, the 48th Separate Electronic Warfare Battalion practised countering unauthorized flights by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The Groza-R2 electronic warfare rifle was used to suppress UAVs.

A diving training session with servicemen of the Special Operations Forces units was held at the Losvida training ground. The servicemen passed qualification exams in diving explosive operations.

A demonstration training on launching anti-tank guided missiles was held at the Hozhski training ground of the 6th Mechanized Brigade. The launches were made using the Fagot portable anti-tank missile system.

Control training in firearms with servicemen of the 11th Mechanized Brigade was held at the 230th Obuz-Liasnouski combined arms training ground. The servicemen practiced firing the AGS-17 Plamia grenade launcher from closed firing positions.

Defense Minister Viktar Khrenin said that units of the 38th Air Assault Brigade and the 103rd Airborne Brigade would be used to cover the southern border of Belarus.

On December 26-27, representatives of Rosgvardiya visited Belarus. During the visit, the delegation got acquainted with facilities of the Internal Troops and the activities of special purpose units.

During the week it was reported about the training on the organization of notification, collection and delivery of mobilization resources, on the maintenance of military registration in organizations and government bodies.

On December 27, military commissars of Minsk region held trainings on the organization of notification of persons liable for military service.

On December 28, the Kamianets District Executive Committee summarized the results of the activities of the territorial defense management bodies of Kamianets district for the 2022/2023 academic year.

State media: In 2023, 1080 activities at various levels were carried out with territorial defense. And in 2024, training on the management of formations, comprehensive inspections of territorial defense management bodies, as well as command-staff drills are planned.

Other

The flight restriction zone for all types of civil aircraft (including UAVs) in southern Belarus was extended according to NOTAMN O0839/23 until March 31, 2024. The ban on flights over the southern part of Belarus was introduced on February 24, 2022, with the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This means that the theoretical threat of missile strikes from the territory of Belarus remains.

According to clarified information, units of the 1530th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces (military unit 31458) are stationed at Mazyr (Bokau) airfield. The regiment’s units have been in Belarus since February 2022.

On December 28, the Council of Ministers of Belarus approved the Regulation on the state registration and operation of civil UAVs, the Regulation on the procedure for training operators of civil UAVs, and a number of documents regulating the procedure for importing UAVs into Belarus (1, 2). The adoption of the documents was stipulated by the decree prohibiting individuals from owning UAVs.
