Military activity on the territory of Belarus on March 18-24

Aviation activity, movements of the troops by rail and roads in Belarus.

During the past week, an increase in the intensity of movements of equipment of the Belarusian Armed Forces was recorded. This was connected with the conduct of the combat readiness inspection.

A calibration equipment aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces was working at Homiel airport, flights of fighters and a reconnaissance aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces were recorded.

Aviation activity

  • Aviation activity was recorded at Machulishchy, Lida, Baranavichy, Vosautsy airfield, and at Minsk National Airport. Flights of aircraft and helicopters of the Belarusian Air Force and Russian Aerospace Forces were recorded.
  • On March 18, an Il-76 military transport aircraft of the Belarusian Air Force flew to Russia. The aircraft broughtsoldiers for the training at the 333rd combat training center of the Western Military District of the Russian Armed Forces.
  • On March 18, an An-26 military transport aircraft of the Belarusian Air Force flew to Russia. On March 19, the aircraft returned to Machulishchy airfield.
  • Daily, on March 18-22, flights of Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters of the 50th combined air base of the Belarusian Air Force to the area of the western border of Belarus were recorded.
  • On March 19 and 21, flights of fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces were recorded at Baranavichy airfield. Also, on March 21, a flight of the Su-24MR reconnaissance aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces was recorded.
  • On March 20-22, flights of the An-26KPA calibration equipment aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces were recorded in the area of Homiel airport. On March 23, the aircraft flew from Machulishchy airfield to Moscow.
  • On March 20-21, flights of helicopters of the Belarusian Air Force to Pastavy and Ashmiany were recorded.

Rail activity

  • On March 21, the formation of a military cargo train with equipment of the 202nd Separate Mechanized Battalion of the 6th Mechanized Brigade was recorded at Parechcha station (Hrodna district). The unit was moving within the framework of the combat readiness inspection.
  • On March 22, the formation of a military cargo train with equipment of the 19th Mechanized Brigade was recorded at Zaslonava station (Lepel district). The unit was moving within the framework of the combat readiness inspection.

Movements by road

  • Single vehicles of the Russian Armed Forces were spotted in Mazyr and Mazyr district.
  • Small convoys (up to 10 pieces), single vehicles, and large convoys (10+ pieces) of the Belarusian Armed Forces were spotted in Minsk, Slonim, Hrodna, Mazyr, Baranavichy, Homiel, Zaslonava, Barouka, and on some sections of the М1, М3, М6, М7, М9, М14, R1, R46, R99, R115, N6052, and other highways.
  • We should also mention the movement of a convoy with the S-400 SAM systems of the Belarusian Armed Forces in the area between Dziarzhynsk and Stoubtsy. The system is in service with one of the divizions of the 15th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.

Combat training

Combat training activities with units of the Belarusian Armed Forces were conducted at the Hozhski, Lepelski, Brestski, Barysauski, Obuz-Liasnouski, Losvida, Asipovichski, Damanava, Maryina Horka, and other training grounds, as well as at the Valoushchyna training center of the Internal Troops.

General conclusion on current situation

We can note the intensification of movements of units of the Belarusian Armed Forces. This is due to two reasons:

1) the ongoing combat readiness inspection;

2) active conduct of combat training activities at training grounds (first of all, field drills and camp training sessions).
