Aircraft of this type arrived at Baranavichy airfield for the first time since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in January 2023
This Sunday, in a story about the landing of paratroopers of the 38th Air Assault Brigade in Brest on October 10, 2023, a TV company of Belarus’ Defense Ministry showed two Su-24 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces at Baranavichy airfield, one of which can be identified as the Su-24MR modification.
Thus, there is visual evidence of the presence of Russian tactical reconnaissance aircraft at the 61st Fighter Air Base in Belarus.
Su-24 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces at Baranavichy airfield
We recall that in January 2023, aircraft of this type arrived at Baranavichy airfield for the first time since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In spring, they were to leave Belarus. But in early September, they began actively flying in Baranavichy again.
The Belarusian Air Force removed its own Su-24 from service in 2012, and now there may still be about 12 aircraft of M and MR modifications in storage in Belarus. About the same number have been installed as monuments and sold to the Middle East and Africa.
