According to Ukrainian representative, they come from the territory of Belarus, where their camps were.
Ilya Yevlash, a representative of the Eastern group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said in an interview that part of Wagner mercenaries under contract who were in Belarus signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense and were redeployed to the eastern direction of the front in Ukraine, and another part went to Africa.
“Former servicemen of the private military company Wagner are now really present on the territory of the eastern group of troops. They take part in combat operations. In particular, they come from the territory of Belarus, where their camps were. […] Some are going into regular combat units. They don’t pose such a threat as it was, for example, a year ago, because of the loss of their main leader Yevgeny Prigozhin,” he said.
We note that according to Andrei Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine, there are about 500 mercenaries left in Belarus at the moment.
