Today, the Russian State Duma ratified an agreement with Belarus on the establishment and operation of joint combat training centers for joint training of servicemen. The document was signed on March 28, 2023. Belarus ratified the agreements on July 17.
The agreement notes that the main tasks of the combat training centers are: joint combat training (duty), exchange of experience on the combat use of military equipment, training in practical skills in operating military equipment, unification of combat training of the Armed Forces, etc.
It is known that combat training centers to train units of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces were established in Belarus back in fall 2021, two years before the ratification of the agreement.
It was reported that the combat training centers worked in the following areas:
- For aviation – at Baranavichy airfield of the 61st Fighter Air Base. Task: training of flight crews on Su-30SM fighters. There is currently at least one Su-30SM fighter of the Russian Aerospace Forces at Baranavichy airfield.
- For anti-aircraft missile troops – at the 1st Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment (Labna-Aharodniki village, Hrodna district). Task: re-training of Belarusian crews in combat operations and maintenance of the S-400 SAM systems. In June 2023, the S-400 divizion went on combat duty in Belarus.
It should be noted that Belarusian military periodically undergo training in training centers on the territory of Russia.
