Combat training, activities of the Internal Troops and territorial defense.

On the night of July 30-31, at least five drones of the Shahed-136/131 type flew into Belarus during another Russian missile attack against Ukraine. A fighter of the Belarusian Air Force was used to intercept them.

Combat training activities included drills on the management of reconnaissance forces and means of the Western Operational Command, as well as a training session with the conscripts of the territorial troops in Minsk.

A military delegation from Iran paid a visit to Belarus. During the visit, they discussed the prospects for cooperation between the militaries of the two countries in the field of engineering support.

International cooperation

A delegation of the Iranian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics headed by Javad Ghazanfarnia, the Head of the General Department of Construction Projects, paid a visit to Belarus. During the visit, the acting head of the Engineering Troops of the Belarusian Armed Forces met with the delegation.

The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in the field of engineering. The Iranian delegation also visited the Anti-Mine Center of the Belarusian Armed Forces, where they got acquainted with its structure, tasks and the system of training specialists in the field of demining.

Combat training

From July 29 to August 23, a field training session for air defense units of the Northwestern Operational Command will be held at the Damanava training ground. During the training session, servicemen will improve the level of coordination of teams of the Osa-AKM SAM system, as well as the level of training and survivability of combat units.

From July 29 to 31, the drills “Management of reconnaissance forces and means of the Western Operational Command during the conduct of special operations” took place. Along with coordination and improving the level of field training and achieving interoperability between the management bodies and reconnaissance units of the operational command, new ways of carrying out reconnaissance tasks using modern reconnaissance equipment were practiced and mastered.

In particular, during the drills, new automated systems for collecting and processing information based on artificial intelligence were tested. The systems help to transmit information in near real time. Multiservice terminals were also used to transmit information, which ensure the transmission of encrypted information via DMR standard communication channels in real time.

The drills also involved practicing all types of reconnaissance, including the use of UAVs. The conduct of counter-battery warfare and the use of FPV drones were also worked out thoroughly. The drills were planned and conducted taking into account the experience of the war in Ukraine. A special feature of the drills was their geography. Tasks were carried out not at familiar training grounds, but on terrain in Hrodna, Brest, and Minsk regions.

In late July, as part of the field drills of the 814th Technical Support Center, an active phase of drills on repairing and evacuating equipment in the field took place. The servicemen demonstrated a high level of professional training, promptly deployed mobile repair stations and ensured uninterrupted servicing of damaged military equipment.

As part of staff drills, servicemen of the 60th Separate Signal Regiment began to carry out tasks in the interests of the Northwestern Operational Command. Having received a combat order, the personnel of the regiment’s signal battalion marched to the task area and began deployment of the communication station.

On July 29, fire and driving control exercises were held with the commanders of the mechanized and tank battalions of the 72nd Combined Training Center at the 227th combined arms training ground. Tank drivers and motorized gunners performed control firing exercises using the armament of the T-72B tank and the BMP-2. The servicemen also demonstrated their skills in driving combat vehicles.

On August 1, field drills were completed in the 111th Artillery Brigade, which took place at the Obuz-Liasnouski training ground. The servicemen dismounted the field camp and marched to the railway station to load equipment.

On August 2, after successfully completing combat training tasks, units of the 841st Artillery Group returned from field drills at the Obuz-Liasnouski training ground to their permanent deployment point.

On August 2, one of the divisions of the 377th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment marched to the area where the field drills were held. The main task of the field drills is to improve skills in combat training disciplines, as well as to increase the level of coordination of combat units in conditions close to combat ones.

On August 2, an anti-aircraft missile battery of the Strela-10 SAM system and a platoon of the Igla MANPADS of the anti-aircraft missile and artillery divizion of the 11th Mechanized Brigade conducted tactical drills without live fire. The main focus was on the performance of elements ensuring the survivability of the units. For example, during the drills, countering a sabotage and reconnaissance group was practiced.

A training session is being held with the personnel of the diving units of the Western Operational Command in Hrodna region. During the training session, issues related to improving the skills of reconnaissance divers in conducting engineering reconnaissance of water obstacles are being practiced.

As part of the first stage of tactical drills with live firing, the personnel of one of the divizions of the 15th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade are conducting field drills. They marched to the assigned area, where the personnel of the divizion began to fulfill the tasks of combat duty.

In September, the Belarusian Armed Forces will hold bilateral complex drills. At the end of August, units will begin relocation to the areas where the drills will be held.

Military commissariats and territorial defense

As part of the field drills of the engineering sapper battalion of the 557th Engineering Brigade, a training session is held with reserve officers. At least 10 people participate in the training session.

On July 29, a study of reserve officers who graduated from military departments and are subject to conscription for military service in 2024 was held on the basis of the Homiel military commissariat.

From July 31 to August 9, mobilization drills are held with military commissariats of Vitsiebsk region. Conscripts will restore their skills in the use of weapons and equipment during the drills. The military commissariats will transfer to the new wartime staff. Also, events will be held to notify and summon conscripts to military commissariats. Units of the Special Operations Forces of the Belarusian Armed Forces will take part in the drills.

A training session for reserve officers is being held in the 147th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment. At least 10 people are taking part in the training session.

A training session with conscripts is being held in the 11th Mechanized Brigade. At least 15 people are taking part in the training session.

On August 1, exercises with chairmen of village executive committees and those responsible for military registration on the order of work of centers for notification and collection of conscripts were held in Pruzhany district.

On August 1-23, a training session with conscripts of the territorial troops will be held in Maskouski district of Minsk. The purpose of the training session is to improve the skills of officials of the district executive committee in the formation of military units of the territorial troops, and conscripts – in the performance of the assigned tasks. During the training session, the issues of notification, draft and supply of conscripts from the reserve, obtaining the necessary stocks of materiel, weapons and equipment, organization of service at the checkpoint, as well as protection of infrastructure facilities will be worked out.

On August 2, 8 conscripts arrived at the military commissariat of Malaryta district after a training session at the 46th missile and ammunition arsenal.

On 2 August, 15 conscripts arrived at the military commissariat of Biaroza district after a training session at the 815th technical support center, the 25th arsenal of missile and artillery armament and the 46th arsenal of missiles and ammunition.

On August 2, 5 conscripts returned to the military commissariats of Kletsk district after a training session on the maintenance of military equipment and materiel of the untouchable reserve.

On August 2, firing exercises were held on the basis of the military commissariat of Vaukavysk district with volunteers of the national home guard of the Vaukavysk Village Executive Committee. The practice of holding such exercises will continue.

On August 2, a ten-day training session with conscripts of the communications group ended in the 5th and 7th Militia Brigades. During the training session, they practiced theoretical and practical issues related to communications, tactical, firearms and military engineering training, military topography and nuclear, chemical and biological protection. Firing from standard weapons was also practiced. At least 20 people took part in the training session.

Internal Troops

Joint exercises involving servicemen of special units of the Rosgvardiya and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus were held on the Moskva River. The participants exchanged experience in organizing diving descents and methods of searching for explosive objects. The servicemen carried out training on search and detection of explosive objects in the places where boats are based, as well as inspection of the underwater part of ships’ hulls. Rosgvardiya representatives emphasized that the joint exercises are “an integral part of cooperation between Russia and Belarus.” In turn, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus noted the high level of training of their Russian colleagues, the spirit of combat brotherhood and mutual assistance between the agencies.

A training session for junior commanders is being held at the 2nd Militia Brigade (military unit 3310). More than 300 servicemen are improving their skills in tactical, firearms and physical training, as well as learning how to conduct exercises with personnel. The soldiers are also trained to storm buildings and trenches in order to be able to skillfully lead the personnel and share their advanced knowledge with them. The process is specifically focused on firearms training. Classes with servicemen are conducted, including instructors with combat experience (PMC Wagner mercenaries).

A training session with snipers of the Tsiklon special forces detachment took place in military unit 7434. Also, instructors with combat experience (PMC Wagner mercenaries) conducted comprehensive firing exercises with the soldiers of the unit.

Tactical drills were held with one of the companies of the 5th Rifle Battalion of the 1st Militia Brigade (military unit 5448). The servicemen practiced moving to the area of the probable location of an escaped convict, searching in the forest, positioning the unit on the ground and destroying an armed group of the enemy at night. 

Combat training exercises were held with sergeants of the 4th Militia Brigade at the Brestski training ground with the participation of instructors with combat experience (PMC Wagner mercenaries). The servicemen studied in detail the actions on warning signals, considered the methods of orientation on the ground, strengthened knowledge on the use of communication equipment and first aid. Then they marched 3000 meters and performed firing exercises.

Combat groups of the Berkut, Grom, Shtorm and Buran special forces detachments, under the guidance of experienced instructors, improve interaction between each other and practice various methods of performing tactical tasks at the Valoushchyna training center.

On August 3, combat training exercises were held at the Valoushchyna training center with the Chest’ special forces detachment. In particular, the volunteers improved their knowledge and skills in working with mines, explosive barriers and topography. Also, instructors with combat experience (PMC Wagner mercenaries) held classes on the use of a mobile application to adjust the work of artillery.

Commander of the Internal Troops Mikalai Karpiankou and Chief of Staff of the Internal Troops Aliaksandr Bykau met with the participants of the exercises. At the meeting, they discussed plans for further development of the Internal Troops, technical and transport equipment of the Chest’ detachment, as well as the use of volunteer units during combat missions.

Other

At least five drones of the Shahed-136/131 type flew into Belarus from Ukraine on the night of July 30 to 31 during another Russia’s missile attack. It is known that the first drone flew into the territory of Belarus at around 23:20 (Minsk time). And at 23:50, a fighter of the Belarusian Air Force was raised from Baranavichy airfield to intercept it. Most of the Russian Shahed-136/131 drones flew deep into the Palessie Radiation-Ecological Reserve, after which they returned to the territory of Ukraine. It is known that at least one of the drones flew over 260 kilometers in Belarus. In total, at least 9 Russian Shahed-136/131 drones flew into the airspace of Belarus on July 11-31. One of them fell on the territory of Homiel region.

145 soldiers serving under contract arrived for studies at the 114th Warrant Officer Training School. Eight of them were women.

In 2024, 687 people entered the Military Academy. 37 of them are women.

The final practice of students of the military department of Brest State Technical University was completed on the basis of the 11th Mechanized Brigade. On August 3, the students took the military oath.

A sports facility is under construction in Asipovichy.
